On August 5th 2012, Joe's son Shane Grogan, then 22 was hit on the head with a brick as he walked his girlfriend home. Joining us on the Breakfast Show this morning, Joe Grogan shared the heartbreaking story of Shane's brain injury and the profound impact it has on their family.
Shane has not spoken since that night, and his care has been a constant challenge for Joe, and his wife Joan.
As Shane marks another birthday last week, Joe reflected on the community support given to his family, especially from the people of Tuam, and friends; and ongoing progress that keeps the family hopeful.
