Galway Actors Invited to Explore ‘Every Moment Counts’ in Michael Chekhov Technique Storytelling Workshop

Actors and theatre-makers in Galway are being invited to deepen their craft at a one-day Michael Chekhov Technique workshop titled Every Moment Counts, taking place on 24 January.

The workshop, led by Max Hafler and Roberta, both graduates of the Michael Chekhov Association, focuses on bringing significance and clarity to every action performed on stage. Drawing on Chekhov’s belief that “everything an artist does is a little piece of art,” the day will explore how even the smallest moments in a performance can carry meaning for an audience.

Speaking recently on a breakfast radio show with Jason Browne, Max Hafler highlighted the importance of moments that are often overlooked. “Missing a detail or a decision onstage can completely disorient an audience member,” he said.

In keeping with Michael Chekhov’s teaching, the workshop encourages performers to begin with questions such as “How?” and “What am I doing?” rather than over-intellectualising motivation too early in the process.

The day-long session is aimed at actors at all stages of their careers and promises a focused, hands-on exploration of presence, clarity, and storytelling.

Max and Roberta both trained at the Michael Chekhov Association and have decades of experience in teaching the Michael Chekhov Technique.

The workshop costs €55, with €30 concession rates available. Booking is now open via www.chekhovtrainingandperformanceireland.com.
