Captain Catbeard Performs ‘Simple Life’ Live on GOCOM Radio Ahead of Lovestock Festival

Travis Bray-Downing popularly called Captain Catbeard graced the airwaves with warmth, wisdom, and his new single Simple Life this morning on GOCOM Radio’s Breakfast Show.

The Galway-based singer-songwriter opened up about the meaning behind the track, describing it as a reflection on "letting go, forgiving yourself and others, and allowing yourself to become who you truly are." With his guitar in hand and a quiet sincerity, he delivered a heartfelt live performance that left the studio still with emotion.

Captain Catbeard also spoke passionately about his upcoming appearance at Lovestock Festival—a mental health awareness and Irish culture celebration taking place over the June Bank Holiday weekend (May 31st–June 2nd) at Booleigh, Kildare. He'll be performing at 4PM on Sunday, June 1st, and encouraged listeners to come for the music, the message, and the community spirit. Tickets are available at lovestock.ie with more information about the festival.

From soulful lyrics to community love, Captain Catbeard’s visit was a reminder that sometimes, the simple things are the most powerful; and a reminder of how music can help us slow down, reflect, and reconnect—with ourselves and each other.
