Irish home cook and author Orla Drumgoole, widely known as Irish Mammy Cooks, has been sharing her culinary journey following a recent appearance on the Breakfast Show.
The Dundalk-based teacher first launched her Instagram page, Instagram account Irish Mammy Cooks, in February 2021. At the time, she says she had no expectations beyond sharing her love of home cooking, teaching, and connecting with others. Her very first post featured a simple recipe for homemade burgers and chips.
Since then, her warm and practical approach to cooking has struck a chord with audiences, helping her grow a following of more than 71,000 people online. Her success has also led to her being signed by the Andrea Roche Agency.
Drumgoole’s popularity continues to rise with the release of her 2026 cookbook, The Irish Mammy Cooks Cookbook, which features 100 easy-to-follow recipes. The collection includes family favourites such as tray-bakes, scones, brown bread, and a variety of chicken, beef, and pork dishes, all rooted in traditional, comforting Irish home cooking.
Speaking with Jason Browne on the Breakfast Show, Drumgoole reflected on how a simple idea turned into a thriving community of food lovers, inspiring home cooks across Ireland and beyond.
