Paul O’Donnell, who works as an Enterprise Officer, SICAP Project Officer and Climate Justice Coordinator with Galway City Partnership, joined the conversation on the Beeakfast Show with Jason Browne to share insights into the People’s Transition Project and the importance of putting communities at the heart of the transition to a more sustainable society.

The Project recognises that creating a greener and more sustainable future is not simply about environmental change — it is also about ensuring that local people have a voice in shaping the changes that affect their lives and communities.

By bringing residents, community organisations and local stakeholders into the conversation, the project creates opportunities to explore practical solutions, share ideas and identify priorities that reflect the needs and experiences of the community.

The discussion highlighted the importance of community-led action, climate justice and local participation, while also exploring how stronger partnerships can help neighbourhoods become more resilient and better prepared for the social and environmental challenges ahead.

For communities in Westside and Shantalla, projects such as this provide an opportunity to move beyond discussion and towards practical local action — empowering people to play an active role in shaping the future of their neighbourhoods.

The Breakfast Show with Jason welcomed Donna Keane from Steps 4 Peace to discuss the screening of Life Support, a powerful film documenting the experiences of international doctors working in Gaza.

The film brings the reality of Gaza into sharp focus through the firsthand accounts of medical professionals who have entered the territory since October 2023.

Life Support follows experiences of doctors who  doctors who did not just witness a humanitarian crisis, but a calculated dismantling of life itself. 

The Film covers the two-year period of the conflict, documenting the daily reality faced by healthcare workers working in bomb-damaged hospitals with dwindling medical supplies, widespread hunger and an overwhelming influx of casualties, predominantly women and children.

Speaking on the GOCOM Breakfast Show, Donna Keane highlighted the importance of bringing these stories into public conversation and creating opportunities for people to learn, reflect and take action.

Over the last two years, Jacob and Larry have successfully checked off adventures across 40 US states and 23 countries. Their recent European tour included stops in Switzerland, Germany, the Netherlands, Luxembourg, Paris, London, and Rome.
